Cusco to Huayllabamba
Today you will head out early from your Cusco hotel to Ollantaytambo in the Sacred Valley. You will have a relatively relaxed start for the Inca Trail and the walking is easy going to help you settle into the trek, Continuing another hour to the start of the trail at Km 82. Your Inca Trail adventure begins here. After trekking for about three hours, you will arrive at the terraced Llactapata ruins, (Incan site which is comprised by temples, palaces, terraces), that was used as the nexus point between the cities from the jungle side and the cities from the highlands during the Incan empire. Then, you will continue through a lush valley before arriving at the evening campsite of Wayllabamba.
Wayllabamba (3,000 meters). The name in Quechua means "Grassy plain". We spend the first night here besides some spectacular ruins which, if you have the energy, we have time to explore.
Time : 5:00 am
Huayllabamba to Pacaymayu
Today is the most challenging portion of the trail, a great nutritious breakfast makes us ready for the hike, and the path is uphill until getting the Warmiwañusca (Dead-woman) to pass (4,215 m / 13,825 ft.). Which is the highest point on the Inca trail. From the top, you will be able to take in breath-taking views of the surrounding valleys and enjoy a tremendous sense of accomplishment. Descending, you will arrive at our second campsite in Pacaymayu. Which is the highest point on the Inca trail.

Having made it over the two passes yesterday, we are now treated to a relaxing day through some of the most beautiful scenery the Inca Trail has to offer. With a relatively short distance to cover along what is known as Inca Flat (gentle ascents and descents), we get to enjoy the lush and verdant cloud forest around us and the spectacular views of the Andes in the distance.
With visits to two Inca sites (Phuyupatamarca and Winay Wayna), this is by far one of the most impressive days of the trek. Our campsite for tonight is at Winay Wayna
(2680m / 8792ft) which we will arrive at to be early afternoon and get to have an extended guided tour once we have settled in.
Time : 6:00 am
